Summary
Within Hervey Bay, the Boundary Road Extension project will provide the missing 1,900m link between Boundary Road and Kuwungan Way to cater for the growing population and to limit traffic congestion. Involving road, drainage, and pavement works, the construction work is being completed by a local civil contractor. Cowie’s role is to provide client-side environmental inspection and auditing services for the duration of the project construction period and provide expert advice on environmental matters.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Environmental Scientist
In this role, Cowie provided quarterly on-site environmental inspections and audit support to the FCRC project team. This also included auditing the event-based monitoring in wet weather, complaint-based inspections, and water quality monitoring documentation when provided. An inspection/audit checklist and resulting actions from the inspection were completed and were provided to the FCRC project for comment and action.
Principal Environmental Scientist
This role reviewed the management of the site inspection, auditing support, and inspection checklists to be sent to the client.
Key Outcomes
- Cowie were able to successfully deliver ongoing environmental site inspections and audit support services to the client, completing an inspection checklist/audit report after each site inspection.
- Review and application of the Erosion and Sediment Control, and Noise and Vibration management plans to ensure minimization of the environmental impact of civil works.
